Dear Student Musicians & Families,
With great pleasure, we welcome you to the Plymouth Community Intermediate School’s Performing Arts Department!
Music is a long-term commitment. At this point, you have built a very strong foundation of music concepts both in your general music classes and various ensembles at your elementary school. It is our goal to build and expand on this foundation and achieve a very high level of success throughout your time here at P.C.I.S. and prepare you for music studies at the high school level.
During your time here at P.C.I.S., you will have the opportunity to be a part of a large ensemble made up of students from all over Plymouth. Within these ensembles we will have students at every level from beginners all the way to our advanced students. It doesn't matter what your level of music is- you all have an important role in the success of the ensembles!
Family members of student musicians have a role in students’ success by providing time to practice at home, to be willing to listen to them perform, and to try and learn from them. One of the most effective ways to learn and study new material is to teach it to someone.
We welcome parents and family members to become involved by joining the Plymouth Schools Music Association. Information can be found by clicking on the P.S.M.A. link in the navigation bar at the top of this page.
In addition to the progress that you will make within the performing arts program, the lifelong benefits you will obtain through the study of music expand far beyond the classroom and can be applied to every other academic subject. In addition to the performing arts, P.C.I.S. offers an array of academic and extracurricular opportunities for our students as we strive to provide them with the tools needed to be successful inside and outside of the classroom.
We wish you well and look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
The P.C.I.S. Performing Arts Ensemble Directors
Mrs. Jessica Fuller, Chorus Director
Mr. David Palombo, Orchestra Director
Mr. Andy Shaw, Band Director
