COVID-19 Precautions and Procedures
With this upcoming school year looking drastically different than years past, it is important that students take note of the new precautions and procedures that are in place. This includes new rehearsal locations, limitations and restrictions with sharing items in the classroom, required PPE, and more.
It is important that students understand that it is expected that they will follow the new guidelines and procedures that have been put in place to ensure the safety of other students and teachers in the classroom and when they are moving throughout the building.
A few important items for families to consider:
Music Ensemble Changes
Through guidance from the Department of Education and in coordination with information provided by local music organizations, we will not be permitted to play wind instruments or sing indoors. It has been deemed safe to continue string ensemble indoors.
To provide an opportunity for singing and concert band ensembles to rehearse, we will be moving our rehearsal space outdoors when weather permits. Once outside, students will be spaced out at least 10 feet apart and will be able to take their masks off.
When we are unable to be outdoors (weather/season), students will meet in the band and chorus room for alternative activities and assignments.
Each student will be asked to practice routine sanitizing of their own work spaces including chairs, instruments, music stands, and anything else that was used during rehearsal time.
Teachers will provide sanitizing materials that have been approved by the district and are deemed safe to use on certain materials.
