Plymouth to Plymouth
November 23- December 1, 2019
Dear P.C.I.S. Concert Band Families and Friends,
As many of you are aware, this fall the high school concert bands and combined marching band will be traveling to England for 10 days. The trip includes a stop in London for sightseeing, performances at a football (soccer) or rugby game, parades and more!
To be eligible for the trip, students must either be a member of the concert band program or a member of the marching band program.
Current 7th graders are eligible to be a part of the marching band starting this June and march as 8th graders for the 2019-2020 school year. Each year we have a large number of middle school students participating in the marching band ensemble. This is a great way for students to meet high school musicians, connect and build relationships and gain insight into the life of a high school student even before their freshman year. This has been a great way for students and families who may feel a little anxious about the transition into high school.
As 8th graders heading into high school, students must be a member of the marching ensemble and/or a member of the concert band program to be eligible for the trip. The marching band program is an extracurricular activity and takes place outside of school. Students can do both a fall sport and marching band. Please see the informational packet below for more details about the program.
This week, students have begun meeting with guidance counselors to go over scheduling for next year. Please reach out to myself or your student’s guidance office if you have specific questions regarding placement in specific programs for next year.
Above you will find informational packets for the U.K. trip as well as an informational packet for the marching band program. If your student is interested in participating in the trip this fall, please read through the details in the packet and be mindful of the due dates for paperwork and payments. Additionally, please note that there are many fundraising opportunities throughout the year that will help in bringing down the cost of the trip in addition to any individual fundraising that you may pursue.
Again, should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
